First Prize Winner at AT&T Hackathon and Wonderful Experience

This past weekend I participated in a Tech IoT Hackathon organized by AT&T and IBM at San Francisco and won First Place. It was 2 sleepless days and it got paid off well by winning the competition.

It was 2 day event where participants/teams were expected to preferably stay in facility provided by organizers and code their respective idea. The idea was to use AT&T and IBM platform (e.g. M2X, Watson, Bluemix etc.) along with some IoT/Sensors/Micro Computer Boards (e.g. Raspberry Pi) to solve day-to-day problem.

It was a nice experience and opportunity to interact with lot of talented people around the world. Other teams also came with nice ideas and they also implemented it nicely.

A big thanks to organizers, all participants and everyone who supported this event and shared their ideas during the event, it was very inspiring and more food for thoughts.

I stumbled on an issue when I was using neab with AEM 6.3. I created few neba ResourceModels and when I tried to access neba Model Registry, I got an error ( java.lang.IllegalStateException: org.apache.sling.api.resource.LoginException: Bundle org.eclipse.gemini.blueprint.extender is NOT whitelisted ): Image: neba Model Registry Menu Image: Error Screen NOTE: Neba team has already fixed it on their development branch and we don’t need to explicitly add whitelisting configuration for neba bundle. Some time while migration or for auditing purposes we need to know where a particular component/template or any other resource have been used. Have you ever wondered about how to fetch a list of all the paths where a particular component or template is being used? Custom synchronisation or rollout action for blueprint ?

Blueprint is an important feature for all those sites which needs to deals with multiple locale and region specific sites. Consider that we have 20 different regional sites and each regional site have 2 locales (English and regional language). Now let’s say you need to do a small update on a English locale page and that changes is required on all sites, there will be 20 pages that you’ll need to visit and make changes one by one (if you have not used blueprint and live copy). With blueprint  we can create a master copy (which is called as blueprint) and create many live copies (which are actual sites) and the benefit you get is that as soon as you do any change in blueprint that same change will be propagated to all live copies pages when changes are rolled out by authors…this is cool. With blueprint you’ll need to apply changes only to English locale page on blueprint and all English locale pages (live copies) will receive that change implicitly. So, how this whole thing works? W
